The most famous feature of the region is the village of Piódão, but there are many other natural resources in the municipality which are virtually unknown, such as the Margaraça woods, the Fronhas dam and the river Alva, the best kept flyfishing secret in Europe.

Outside the municipality, but within a radius of 30 km, are the cities of Coimbra and Viseu, the historic and beautiful Buçaco mountains and the Luso thermal springs.
